Information about Army ROTC, the scholarship process, and the program at Clarkson University

I am probably not your typical reader- Mom of an ROTC scholarship applicant. He is not even applying to Clarkson, but I find your blog a very informative window into ROTC. There has been a lot for this non-military family to learn and your blog has been really helpful-please keep up the good work!
Since thinking of going to Potsdam over the summer and doing ROTC I have found this blog to be most informative. There are many Army and Military sites/forums, but they can lack detail or correct information. This blog has a lot of helpful information, along with the ability to leave comments or email you if any questions still exist.
I like the updates about Clarkson/Potsdam ROTC and its members. It gives insight into what goes on in daily cadet life, other blog posts discussing how Army ROTC works, how to join and how to perform best are all very helpful as well. In your posts having links, videos and your comments really help answer questions.

Your comments on this site and the service academy site are the only ones I trust to be accurate. I have a question. I did not receive a 4 year scholarship last year. I am taking community college classes part time right now. Can I reapply for the 4 year scholarship this year?
You can, but if you didn’t get one last year it’s not going to get any easier. I would encourage you to consider enrolling in ROTC and competing for a campus based scholarship, and considering the SMP program. It’s not going to get easier to get a scholarship. Another option for you is to earn your associates at the CC and then talking to an ROTC Battalion about LTC and competing for a 2 year scholarship out of LTC.
