During the Fall semester Cadets complete day and night land navigation training, known to us as “Super Saturday”. Starting at an early 0300, we use only a lensatic compass, a protractor, and a topographic map to locate marked points in the woods. Land navigation training is the foundation of field leadership, forcing Cadets to move away from GPS and master the "old school" tools. Finding a small red stake in the middle of dense woods at night teaches Cadets to trust their equipment and their training when visibility is low. It is essential because it builds spatial awareness and the ability to make critical decisions. #armyrotc #motivation #goldenknightbattalion #newyork #college #clarksonuniversity #rotccadet #army #stlawrenceuniversity #ClarksonU #armystrong #university #sunypotsdam #usarmy #landnavigation #armyrotcscholarship #armyrotclife #fitness #leadership #teamwork #rotclife #goldenknights #rotc #potsdam #ROTC #goldenknights #sunycanton #american #northernny This fall, GKB cadets got the opportunity to rappel from our rappel training tower. Cadets received special instruction from the Fort Drum Mountain Training Group. Hands-on learning opportunities like this one improve tactical skills, prepare cadets for CST, and allow them to have a unique experience while making lifelong memories. We appreciate you. To celebrate the good spirit and togetherness of the season, cadets played in a Turkey Bowl football game! The IGNITE Expo is a business and research event for students to showcase groundbreaking projects and outstanding achievements. This is a great representation of the hard work Cadets put in outside of the GKB while simultaneously working towards their goal of being proficient leaders in the U.S. Army. Congratulations Cadet Cyrus, and keep up the great work! #fromthefront #armyleadership #armyrotc #ArmyROTC #ArmyLeadership #clarkson #clarksonuniversity #hardwork #rotc #rotclife Training to win!
